Team Profile

After two years as an associate member, the Cayman Islands Football Association became a full member of Concacaf in 1990 and since then has worked to grow football in the three-island territory.

The Cayman Islands men’s national team closed out World Cup qualification with a 1-1 draw against Bermuda and will look to build on that result when it takes part in the next edition of the Concacaf Nations League.

In its first CNL campaign, the Cayman Islands put in a strong performance in Group A of League C, winning four matches, including victories over the U.S. Virgin Islands, Barbados and Saint Martin, but missing out on promotion with a second-place finish.

The Cayman Islands will hope some of the success experienced by its youth women’s teams at Concacaf tournaments, where both the U-20 team and U-17 have progressed from group phases within regional championships, will be replicated at the senior level in the Concacaf W Championship.

The Cayman Islands have also utilized its numerous facilities to serve as the host for several competitions, including the 2013 Concacaf U-15 Championship and the 1995 Caribbean Cup Finals, which drew a visit from all-time Brazilian great Pelé.
