Haiti falls in World Cup return after 52 years

BOSTON – The FIFA World Cup 2026 continued with Haiti making its second appearance in the tournament, ending a 52-year drought, in a 1-0 loss to Scotland in Group C on Saturday at Boston Stadium in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

Scotland, who made its return to the World Cup to end a 28-year wait, took the victory with the match’s lone goal in the 28’ from a shot from the top of the area by John McGinn.

Frantzdy Pierrot had a chance of his own in the 85’, attempting a header that went wide.

Haiti’s next encounter will come against five-time World Cup champions Brazil on June 19, 8:30 PM ET (8:30 PM local), at Philadelphia Stadium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.
