Winning Start for Motagua 

FC Motagua seals an away victory against Verdes FC in opening match of the 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup.

BELMOPÁN, Belize – The 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup kicked off with FC Motagua earning a 5-0 victory against Verdes FC in Group D on Tuesday at FFB Stadium in Belmopán, Belize.

FC Motagua took the lead in the 7’, with Luis Vega converting from the penalty spot.

Denis Meléndez doubled the visitors' advantage in the 49’, bringing down a long ball over the opposition’s backline before finding the back of the net from the center of the box.

Jonathan Moya extended Motagua’s advantage with a towering header in the 63’.

Moya completed his brace in the 75’ with an acrobatic volley in the box following a corner.

Jordan García rounded out the result for the Honduran club with a close-range finish in the 90’+2’. Jorge Serrano delivered the assist with a standout individual play down the right side of the box.

FC Motagua will visit CD FAS for its next match next Thursday. Verdes FC will continue its campaign by hosting CSD Municipal on the same day.
