Plaza Amador defeats L.A. Firpo in Group A

Plaza Amador earned its first victory of the tournament with a home win over L.A. Firpo.

Panama City, Panama - The 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup continued with Plaza Amador earning a 2-1 win over L.A. Firpo in Group A on Tuesday at Estadio Rommel Fernández in Panama City, Panama.

Plaza Amador opened the scoring in the 45’ when captain Eric Davis whipped in a corner kick and Jimar Sánchez flicked a header towards the back post and into the back of the net.

The hosts extended the lead in the 87’ as Julio Rodríguez chipped the keeper after receiving a through ball from Alberto Quintero.

L.A. Firpo cut into the deficit late when Mauricio Cerritos struck a volley from the edge of the box at 90+4’, but the team was unable to find an equalizer in the time that remained.

Plaza Amador will continue its Central Cup campaign against Club Xelajú on Tuesday. L.A. Firpo, meanwhile, will face Diriangén FC next Thursday.
