Marathón hosts LD Alajuelense for Quarterfinals First Leg 

The Honduran side will play the Quarterfinals for the first time.

SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras – The 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup continues with CD Marathón hosting defending champion LD Alajuelense on Thursday for the first leg of their Quarterfinals series at Estadio Francisco Morazán in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

This will be the second time these teams meet in Central American Cup history, the first time being in the Group Stage of the 2024 edition, with Alajuelense securing a 3-1 victory at home.

Marathón is set for its first Quarterfinals appearance after finishing second in Group B with a 2W-1D-1L record.

The Honduran side has excelled defensively so far, going into the Quarterfinals with the most clean sheets in the competition (3). On the offensive side, Yairo Moreno leads Marathón in goals this campaign with two strikes in four appearances.

Alajuelense will make a fourth consecutive Quarterfinals appearance after winning Group A with a 3W-0D-1L record. La Liga enters as the side with the most matches in the Knockout Stages of the Central American Cup (18), and will aim to extend their 7W-10D-1L record.

Forward Ronaldo Cisneros has been in top form for the three-time defending champions and currently leads the race for the 2026 Central American Cup Golden Boot with four goals in four appearances.
