Saprissa and Cartaginés add a new chapter in CAC Quarterfinals

Saprissa hosts the first leg as the Costa Rican clubs clash in Quarterfinals.

MIAMI – The 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup continues with Deportivo Saprissa hosting CS Cartaginés on Wednesday for the first leg of their Quarterfinals series at Estadio Ricardo Saprissa in San Juan de Tíbás, San José, Costa Rica.

Deportivo Saprissa arrives at the Quarterfinals for a third time in four Central American Cup appearances, aiming to advance past this stage for the first time. Los Morados booked a Knockout Stage berth after finishing second in Group C with a 3W-0D-1L record.

Deportivo Saprissa and CS Cartaginés have faced each other twice in the Group Stage of the Concacaf Central American Cup, with Saprissa winning both encounters: 1-0 in 2023 and 2-0 in the 2025 edition.

Midfielder Mariano Torres has been amongst Saprissa’s leading players so far with three goals and an assist in four appearances.

Cartaginés is also set for a third Quarterfinals appearance, with the objective of advancing to semifinals for the first time. Los Brumosos sealed a spot in the Knockout Stage by winning Group D unbeaten with a 2W-2D-0L record.

Winger Geancarlo Castro has been Cartaginés’ main contributor in attack this campaign with three goals and an assist in just two appearances, including a goal and an assist in the pivotal victory over FAS in the team’s fourth and final Group Stage fixture.
