FC Motagua hosts Alianza FC for Quarterfinals face-off
First Quarterfinal battle to take place in Honduras
MIAMI – The 2026 Central American Cup continues with FC Motagua hosting Alianza FC on Wednesday in the Quarterfinals at Estadio Nacional Chelato Uclés in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
Alianza FC finished at the top of Group B with just one loss, while FC Motagua went unbeaten in the Group Stage, finishing in second place of Group D.
The Honduran club has accumulated the highest expected goals value in this year’s edition of the tournament (9.26 xG), while the Salvadoran club has the second-lowest (3.70 xG).
Jonathan Moya and Rodrigo de Olivera combined for four of the eight goals FC Motagua scored in the Group Stage unbeaten streak. FC Motagua also have two of the five players with the most defensive actions in the Group Stage: Oscar Padillas (60) and Clever Portillo (56).
Even though they recorded a loss in the Group Stage, Alianza FC finished that stage with a win against CD Marathón, with Matías Mier being the goal scorer ahead of the start of their Quarterfinals run.
