LD Alajuelense hosts Marathón for Quarterfinals Second Leg 

Current Champions go into Second Leg with an away goals advantage.

MIAMI – The 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup continues with defending champions LD Alajuelense hosting CD Marathón on Thursday for the Second Leg of their Quarterfinals series at Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela, Costa Rica.

LD Alajuelense enters the match with a slight advantage due to away goals after a 2-2 draw on the road in Honduras in the First Leg.

Anthony Hernández and Ángel Zaldívar scored for LD Alajuelense, while Yairo Moreno and Damin Ramírez found the back of the net for Marathón.

Three-time Central American Cup defending champion Alajuelense will be in search of clinching the series to advance to semifinals for a fourth consecutive edition.

Ronaldo Cisneros is currently the joint-top scorer in the competition in 2026 with four goals, two goals away from equalizing the record for most goals by a LD Alajuelense player in a single edition (Diego Campos with six goals in 2024).

Marathón is making its first Quarterfinals appearance and will be in search of turning the series around to make history and seal a spot in the Semifinals.

The Honduran side aims to extend its positive run of 4W-2D-1L. As a visitor, Marathón is unbeaten, and has kept clean sheets in its two road games so far, this 2026 CAC edition.
