L.A. Firpo secures Quarterfinal berth with draw against Club Xelajú

L.A. Firpo finishes second in Group A to secure its first Quarterfinal appearance in the Central American Cup.

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala – Club Xelajú and L.A. Firpo closed out their Group Stage campaigns in the 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup with a 1-1 draw at Estadio Cementos Progreso in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

Diego Casas opened the scoring for the hosts, capitalizing on a chance in the box for Club Xelajú and sending the ball past L.A. Firpo’s goalkeeper with a header in the 11’.

L.A. Firpo pushed for an equalizer, finding it in the 21’ after impressive collective play. Diego Ortez was the author of the goal, finishing a team effort with a left-footed shot in the box.

With this result, L.A. Firpo has qualified to the Quarterfinals of the 2026 Central American Cup, finishing in second place in Group A with a 2W-1D-1L record.
