CS Herediano secures victory over Antigua GFC in Group B

CS Herediano and Antigua GFC close out 2026 Central American Cup campaigns.

SAN JOSÉ, Costa Rica – The 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup continued on Wednesday with CS Herediano defeating Antigua GFC 2-1 at INS Stadium in San Jose, Costa Rica.

After a goalless first half, Ronaldo Araya broke the deadlock in the 52’ to hand the hosts the lead. Araya received a ball from Allan Cruz outside the box before unleashing a right-footed strike to the bottom-right corner of the net.

José Ardón equalized for Antigua in the 69’ with a header at the far post. Aaron Murillo provided the assist with a delivery from the left flank.

Abner Hudson restored the lead for Herediano in the 71’, capitalizing on a threaded pass from Emerson Bravo and striking from the right side of the box.

Herediano goalkeeper Dany Carvajal made key saves to preserve the lead in the 79’ and 87’.

With the result, both clubs concluded their participations in the 2026 Central American Cup. Herediano finished third in Group B with seven points and a 2W-1D-1L record, while Antigua finished fifth in the group with a 0W-0D-4L record.
