Deportivo Saprissa maintains perfect record with victory over Deportivo Mixco

The Costa Rica defeated Deportivo Mixco 3-0 and keeps a perfect record.

SAN JUAN DE TIBÁS, Costa Rica - The 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup continued on Tuesday with Deportivo Saprissa defeating Deportivo Mixco 3-0 in Group C at Estadio Ricardo Saprissa in San Juan de Tibás, San José, Costa Rica.

Newton Williams gave the hosts the lead in the 4’ with a header at the far post to capitalize on a delivery from the right from Gerson Torres.

Saprissa doubled its lead in the 7’, with Torres striking from the center of the box with a first-time, left-footed hit.

Kendall Waston added a third for Saprissa in the 32’ when the defender headed home a corner kick delivery from Mariano Torres. Notably, the goal marked Waston’s 100th goal for Los Morados.

Deportivo Mixco had an opportunity to shrink the deficit in the 35’, but the attempt from Nicolás Martínez from the penalty spot was saved by Saprissa goalkeeper Abraham Madriz.

Saprissa continues its Central American Cup campaign with a visit to CD Olimpia on Thursday, August 27. Mixco will host UMECIT FC for its next Group Stage fixture on Wednesday, August 19.
