CD FAS earns first Central American Cup win against Verdes FC

CD FAS scores four goals to secure its first victory in Central American Cup history.

SANTA TECLA, El Salvador – The 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup continued on Wednesday with CD FAS earning a 4-1 win over Verdes FC in Group D at Estadio Nacional Las Delicias in Santa Tecla, El Salvador.

It was the first win in Central American Cup history for the Salvadoran club.

The hosts wasted no time opening the scoring as Miguel Murillo slammed in a header off a corner kick just four minutes into the match.

Verdes FC notched the equalizer in the 34’ when Luis Ibarra scored a header of his own.

Just two minutes later, the hosts regained the lead when Juan Vega lofted a high cross into the box and Jonathan Nolasco finished it off.

In the 57’, the Salvadoran club extended the advantage off an Edgar Medrano header.

Melvin Urbina put the finishing touches on the three points with a solo effort in the 90’+1’ to beat the defense and keeper.

CD FAS will continue its Central American Cup campaign on Wednesday, August 19 against CSD Municipal. Verdes FC will face CS Cartaginés in its next encounter on Tuesday, August 18.
