Deportivo Saprissa defeats Alianza FC in Group C

Deportivo Saprissa scored a late winner to remain perfect through two Group Stage matches.

San Juan de Tíbás, Costa Rica - The 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup continued on Wednesday with Deportivo Saprissa earning a 2-1 win over Alianza FC in Group C at Estadio Ricardo Saprissa Aymá in San Juan de Tíbás, Costa Rica.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 19’ when Mariano Torres’ precise free kick from distance curled past the keeper.

Alianza netted an equalizer in the 70’ as Joel Garcés received a long ball over the top and finished the chance just a minute after subbing into the match.

The Costa Rican club then found a late winner in the 88’ after nice link-up play between Newton Williams and Orlando Sinclair resulted in the decisive shot from Sinclair.

Deportivo Saprissa will continue its Central American Cup campaign against Deportivo Mixco on Tuesday. Alianza FC will take on UMECIT FC in its next encounter on next Thursday.
