The 2022 Concacaf W Championship begins on July 4 in Monterrey, Mexico with eight teams hoping to be one of three sides that qualify for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia/New Zealand and the winner also advancing to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Jamaican Women’s National Team have captivated Concacaf and the world ever since they stepped foot on the biggest stage in women’s football at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, and they are ready to do it all over again.

The Reggae Girlz will be part of the Concacaf W Championship for the seventh time, having been part at Haiti 1991, Canada 1994, Canada/United States 2002, USA 2006, USA 2014 and USA 2018.

The best performance for the team was at USA 2018, when they finished in third place. A fourth place at USA 2006 and a fifth place at Canada 1994 complete the list of Jamaica’s participation at the CWC.

In the Qualification Stage, they were crowned as winners of Group C with a 4W-0D-0L record. Proving why they were at the top of Group C, Jamaica had the services of Khadija Shaw with nine goals and Trudi Carter and Jody Brown with five goals each.

Jamaica has an overall record of 4W-1D-16L in the CWC, with 60 goals against and 26 goals scored.

The Reggae Girlz have a variety of names as their top all-time CWC scorers, with Brown at the top with four goals. She was also named the Best Young Player at USA 2018. Shaw and Donna-Kay Henry, with three goals each, are also names that are part of Jamaican women’s football legacy.

The last time Jamaica played at the FIFA Women’s World Cup was at France 2019, making that appearance the only time the team has been part of the tournament.
