L.A. Firpo tops Group A with win over LD Alajuelense
L.A. Firpo moves atop Group A after defeating defending champion LD Alajuelense, with three clubs level on six points.
SANTA TECLA, El Salvador – The 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup continued with L.A. Firpo earning a 1-0 win over LD Alajuelense in Group A at Estadio Nacional Las Delicias in Santa Tecla, El Salvador.
Styven Vásquez scored the lone goal in the 45th minute, capitalizing on a scramble inside the box and firing a high shot into the back of the net.
With the result, the Salvadoran club placed itself atop a crowded Group A, with three teams level on six points each.
L.A. Firpo continues its Central American Cup campaign on Wednesday, August 26 against Club Xelajú. LD Alajuelense will play Plaza Amador in its next encounter on the same day.
