Club Olimpia clinches Quarterfinal berth with win over Alianza FC
Club Olimpia secures its place in the Quarterfinals with a 3-1 victory over Alianza FC in Group C.
PANAMA CITY, Panama – The 2026 Central American Cup continued with Club Olimpia earning a 3-1 win over Alianza FC in Group C at Estadio Rommel Fernández in Panama City, Panama.
Imanol Enríquez opened the scoring for Club Olimpia in the 42’ when he received a cross from the right flank and slotted home a first-time finish from near the penalty spot.
Jorge Benguché doubled the lead for the visitors as he found space at the edge of the box and unleashed a powerful right-footed strike in the 71’.
Alianza FC cut into the deficit just five minutes later off Anthony Stewart’s well-placed low shot.
The visitors put the finishing touches on the three points in the 80’ when Michael Chirinos connected on a thunderous volley.
With the result, Club Olimpia advances to the Quarterfinals while Alianza FC was eliminated from contention.
Club Olimpia will continue its Central American Cup campaign Thursday, August 27 against Deportivo Saprissa. Alianza FC will close out its tournament against Deportivo Mixco on the same day.
