Deportivo Mixco earns its first victory in Central American Cup history with a four-goal performance against UMECIT FC.
GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala – The 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup continued on Wednesday with Deportivo Mixco earning a 4-1 win over UMECIT FC in Group C at Estadio Manuel Felipe Carrera in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
The result marked the Guatemalan club’s first win in Central American Cup history.
Deportivo Mixco opened the scoring in the 16’ when Nicolás Martínez brought down a high cross and fired home the first goal.
Lynner García extended the lead just four minutes later with a low, right-footed shot from inside the box.
In the 25’, Martínez recorded his brace as he snuck ran behind the back line and chipped the goalkeeper to make it a three-goal advantage.
Yonatan Pozuelos put the finishing touches on a dominant first half as he finished off a counterattack in the 34’.
UMECIT recorded its lone tally in the 60’ when Emmanuel Gómez struck a powerful shot from the edge of the box that found the back of the net.
With the result, the Guatemalan club keeps its hopes of advancing to the Quarterfinals alive. UMECIT FC, meanwhile, closed its 2026 Central American Cup campaign with the loss.
Deportivo Mixco will continue its Central American Cup campaign on Thursday, August 27 against Alianza FC.
