L.A. Firpo begins its 2026 Central American Cup campaign against Plaza Amador, which looks to bounce back after its Matchday 1 defeat

MIAMI – Matchday 2 of the 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup begins on Wednesday with L.A. Firpo opening its Group A campaign against Plaza Amador at Estadio Rommel Fernández in Panama City, Panama.

This will be L.A. Firpo’s second appearance in the competition, previously participating in 2024. After falling short of advancing from the Group Stage in its first campaign, the Salvadoran club will look to earn its first Central American Cup victory.

Plaza Amador will play its second Group A match after suffering a 4-2 defeat to Diriangén FC on Matchday 1; Héctor Ríos and Alberto Quintero scored the Panamanian club’s two goals in the match.

The only occasion in which the team recorded a higher total in a single match the past two editions of the competition came against Managua FC in 2025 (17).

Plaza Amador completed the most long passes (42) on Matchday 1 despite recording the competition’s third-lowest proportion of long passes (9.5%).

Plaza Amador’s Rudy Yearwood recorded 18 line-breaking passes on Matchday 1, the most of any player.
