CS Herediano, CD Marathón share the points in Group B

CS Herediano and CD Marathón opened their Group B with a 0-0 draw.

ALAJUELA, Costa Rica – The 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup continued with CS Herediano and CD Marathón playing to a scoreless draw in Group B on Thursday at Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela, Costa Rica.

The visitors had a good opportunity in the 64’, but Yairo Moreno, who was named Man of the Match, was denied by Herediano goalkeeper Dany Carvajal.

Ronaldo Araya came close to finding a late winner for Herediano in the 84’, but his right-footed effort from the right side of the box was denied by Marathón goalkeeper Jonathan Rougier.

Both goalkeepers turned in strong performances to earn clean sheets in their opening match of the campaign.

Group B action continues Wednesday with Herediano visiting Alianza FC. Marathón will travel to face Verdes FC on Thursday in its second Group Stage match.
