Antigua & Barbuda

Team Profile

Antigua and Barbuda will be looking to shine bright in their first ever Concacaf Gold Cup, making them one of five teams to debut in the 2023 edition.

The Benna Boys finished with a strong 3W-0D-3L record in the 2022-23 Concacaf Nations League, finishing in third-place in Group A of League B, level on points with Guadeloupe (9).

On two occasions Antigua and Barbuda faced Guadeloupe in the group stage, winning both matches home and away by a 1-0 scoreline. Guadeloupe will once again be Antigua and Barbuda’s opponent when they kick off in the Prelims.

Leading the way for Antigua and Barbuda in the group stage was Myles Weston, who scored a pair of goals, while Ashley Nathaniel George was a key contributor with a goal and an assist.

Antigua and Barbuda can also lean on the experienced hands of GK Nick Townsend. Not only did Townsend record 27 saves in the 2022-23 CNL, but he also chipped in with an assist in the 1-0 home win over Guadeloupe.

Overall, Antigua and Barbuda have a 6W-0D-6L record in CNL play, with 13 goals scored and 24 conceded. D’Andre Bishop is the Caribbean side’s all-time top scorer in the CNL with three goals, including a score in the 2022-23 group stage.

Should Antigua and Barbuda defeat Guadeloupe once again, they would face the Guyana-Grenada winner with the possibility of advancing to the Gold Cup group stage and into Group A with the United States, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.
