Deportivo Toluca FC and Club América defeat MLS opposition to join CF Monterrey and Club León in the Leagues Cup 2026 Semifinals.
MIAMI – Leagues Cup 2026 Quarterfinal action concluded on Wednesday with Deportivo Toluca FC and Club América earning victories over Austin FC and Columbus Crew, respectively, to secure the final two spots in the Semifinals.
Deportivo Toluca FC 2-0 Austin FC
Deportivo Toluca FC secured a 2-0 win against Austin FC at Sports Illustrated Stadium in New Jersey, United States to clinch a spot in the Semifinals of the competition.
After a scoreless first half, the first goal of the night came from the penalty spot in the 53’ when Helinho sent the ball to the bottom right corner of the net to give Toluca the lead.
Jorge Diaz scored the second and final goal for the Mexican side in the 90' + 7’, securing Toluca’s spot in the 2026 Leagues Cup semifinals with a right-footed shot from inside the box.
Club América 2-0 Columbus Crew
Club América advanced to the Semifinals of the 2026 Leagues Cup after defeating Columbus Crew 2-0 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
A powerful finish in the 11’ kicked off the scoring for Las Águilas, as Raphael Veiga’s left-footed shot from outside the box found the back and gave the Mexican side the lead.
Cristián Borja committed a foul in the 36’, and after VAR consultation, the referee called for a penalty for Columbus Crew. Rodolfo Cota preserved América’s lead in the 39th minute by saving Brais Méndez’s attempt from the penalty spot.
Brian Rodríguez doubled the advantage in the 45’ + 5’, firing a right-footed shot through two defenders and into the back of the net.
