Club América, Club León to battle to get to the Leagues Cup podium

MIAMI – The Leagues Cup 2026 continues on Sunday with Club América and Club León playing in the Third-Place match at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas, USA.

Las Águilas are coming off a Semifinal loss to CF Monterrey in a penalty kick shootout, while Club León was blanked 2-nil by Toluca FC.

That marked the first loss of this year’s edition of the tournament for La Fiera after enjoying a perfect Group Stage and a Quarterfinal victory.

There is still plenty to play for on both sides as Daniel Arcila, the tournament’s leading scorer (4 goals), and Brian Rodríguez (3 goals) are both still in contention for the Golden Boot.

Club León can clinch a spot in the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup with a win in this match, whereas Club América has already qualified for the tournament based on Liga MX’s 2026 aggregate regular season standings.
