USA faces Belgium in World Cup Round of 16
The Stars and Stripes face Belgium in Seattle, with a place in the Quarterfinals on the line.
SEATTLE – The FIFA World Cup 2026 continues as the United States of America hosts Belgium in the Round of 16 on Monday, 8:00 PM ET (5:00 PM local), at Seattle Stadium in Seattle, Washington, USA.
The match will mark the ninth all-time meeting between the two nations and their third encounter at the FIFA World Cup. The teams previously met in the Round of 16 at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, where Belgium claimed a 2-1 extra-time victory. Belgium leads the all-time series with a 6-1-1 record.
USA reached the Round of 16 after defeating Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2-nil, in the Round of 32. Folarin Balogun, who scored his third goal of the tournament, and Malik Tillman were on target to lead The Stars and Stripes to victory.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be missing Balogun after the forward received a red card against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The likes of Christian Pulisic, Ricardo Pepi, and Haji Wright will be relied upon to lead the attack.
Belgium advanced to the Round of 16 with a 3-2 comeback win in extra time against Senegal. After falling behind 2-nil, Belgium rallied through a goal from Romelu Lukaku before Youri Tielemans struck twice, including the dramatic winner in the 120'+5'.
