Statistical Snapshot

Canada is still seeking their first-ever World Cup win.

FIFA World Cup hosts have reached the second round of the competition in 20 of the previous 22 editions, with the exception being South Africa in 2010 and Qatar in 2022. The last hosts/co-hosts to win the tournament were France in 1998.

Historic Storyline Entering the Tournament

Canada enters the 2026 World Cup hoping its third appearance will bring a breakthrough performance. The Canadians lost all six matches across their first two World Cup campaigns and have yet to advance beyond the group stage.

There was optimism surrounding the team's return in 2022 after a 36-year absence, but Canada struggled to convert its chances and managed only two goals in the tournament, one of which came via an own goal.

With a talented core led by Davies, David and a new generation of emerging stars, Canada has a golden opportunity to make history on home soil by earning its first World Cup victory and advancing to the knockout stage for the first time.
