‘Train the Trainer’ Workshop in El Salvador

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador — In its ongoing commitment to elevate the standard of football across the region, Concacaf successfully concluded a Train the Trainer workshop in San Salvador, El Salvador. The intensive four-day program was specifically designed to prepare 23 elite coach educators to teach the prestigious Concacaf A License in their respective home countries.

The workshop represents a critical step in supporting the Concacaf Coaches Convention, ensuring that theoretical and practical teaching criteria are unified and meet the highest minimum content requirements across the region.

Ten Member Associations were represented at the event, including Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. Notably, 80 percent of the participating coach educators are former players, with a high concentration of elite youth football coaches and youth national team managers bringing their extensive on-pitch experience to the classroom.

“Raising the competitive level of our game relies entirely on the quality of education we provide to those guiding the next generation of players,” said Concacaf Chief Football Development Officer Jason Roberts. “By equipping these elite coach educators with the tools to deliver the A License, we are creating a multiplier effect. These educators will return to their Member Associations and exponentially raise the tactical and technical standards of coaching throughout our entire region.”

The comprehensive curriculum covered advanced modern football modules, including training methodologies, tactical training cycles, game model development, high-performance planning, offensive and defensive principles, and detailed match analysis. It focused deeply on adult learning principles and mentoring as tools to effectively engage and educate the adult learner.

Looking ahead through the remainder of the year, Concacaf’s Development Department will focus on preparations for the Pro License and provide ongoing mentorship to Member Associations as they roll out their domestic A, B, and C License processes. This momentum has already seen the program’s reach expand through subsequent local sessions held in Sint Maarten, Jamaica, and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
