FC Motagua advances to the Quarterfinals after a 1-1 draw with CSD Municipal in the final round of Group D.

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala – The 2026 Central American Cup continued on Tuesday with CSD Municipal and FC Motagua playing to a 1-1 draw in Group D at Estadio Manuel Felipe Carrera in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

FC Motagua scored first in the 36’ when Jesús Bátiz headed a cross back across the box and Rodrigo De Olivera finished the chance from close range.

The hosts fought back and netted an equalizer in the 76’ as Erik López headed home a deflected ball.

With the result, FC Motagua advances to the Quarterfinals while CSD Municipal’s tournament comes to an end.

  • FC Motagua have progressed from the group stage of the Concacaf Central American Cup for the fourth consecutive time. They are the only Honduran team to advance in more than one edition of the competition.
