CS Cartaginés clinches Quarterfinal berth with win over CD FAS

CS Cartaginés secures its place in the Quarterfinals with a 2-0 victory over CD FAS in Group D.

CARTAGO, Costa Rica – The 2026 Central American Cup continued on Tuesday with CS Cartaginés earning a 2-0 win over CD FAS in Group D at Estadio José Rafael Fello Meza in Cartago, Costa Rica.

After a scoreless first half, Geancarlo Castro broke the deadlock in the 61’ when he received the ball from a corner kick delivery, faked a shot to beat a defender, and struck a left-footed shot from an acute angle.

The hosts sealed the win in the 78’ when Juan Vega connected with Alonso Hernández to net their second and final goal of the night.

With the result, CS Cartaginés advances to the Quarterfinals, while the tournament comes to a close for CD FAS.
