USA wins Rocket League title

The United States and Puerto Rico seals a spot in the FIFAe World Cup.

MEXICO CITY – The inaugural FIFAe Continental Championship North, Central America, and Caribbean by eConcacaf concluded on Sunday with the Rocket League tournament as the United States secured the title and a spot in the FIFAe Finals. Puerto Rico also qualified to the big stage.

The Rocket League tournament saw USA, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Puerto Rico, and Canada compete for the crown, with USA ultimately claiming champions honors. Below let’s review the tournament’s results.

Group Stage

The Rocket League tournament opened with five Group Stage matchups for all participants, with teams facing each opponent once. Matchups consisted of two games, with the winner of the series earning three points or both teams earning one point if the series resulted in a draw. At the conclusion of the Group Stage four sides moved on to the Knockout Stage.

USA arrived as favorites and ultimately won all but one Group Stage matchup, as its series against Puerto Rico resulted in a draw. The final standings had the USA on top with 13 points, followed by Puerto Rico with 11, Canada with 10 and Panama with 4 as the four teams advanced to the Knockout Stage.

Knockout Stage

Knockout Stage matchups saw teams play best of seven series, with the rule of golden goal in play in case of ties.

In the first round, USA won the series 4-0 over Panama, while Canada provided a strong comeback to secure the series 5-2 after Puerto Rico had taken a 2-0 lead.

USA then took on Canada for a place in the Final, with an uncontested 4-0 victory for the Stars and Stripes to book a spot in the Final and secure the first ticket for the 2026 FIFAe World Cup.

Losing sides then competed for the second place in the Final. Puerto Rico overcame Panama 4-0 in their series before taking on Canada for the second time in the Knockout Round. The Boricuas secured the victory this time around, winning the series 4-1 after falling in the series opener to seal a historic qualification for the 2026 FIFAe World Cup.

Final

The Final kicked off with strong performances for USA in the first three games of the series, outscoring Puerto Rico 21-3. The Boricuas then secured a shock win in game four to extend the series.

Game five featured another highly contested battle, with a 2-2 draw in regulation and USA ultimately clinching the title in extra time with a golden goal.
