Mexico clinches second title in FIFA eContinental Championship by eConcacaf tournament
Mexico defeats Costa Rica to claim a spot in the FIFAe World Cup.
MEXICO CITY - The inaugural FIFAe Continental Championship North, Central America, and Caribbean by eConcacaf continued on Saturday with the eFootball™ Console tournament, with Mexico winning the title and securing a spot in the FIFAe Finals.
The eFootball™ Console tournament featured Mexico, Costa Rica and Trinidad & Tobago, Panama, Honduras and Puerto Rico battled it out for the title in the second day of competition. Below let’s review the tournament’s results.
Group Stage
The tournament kicked off with the Group Stage in which participants faced each opponent once, with four teams advancing to the Knockout Stage.
Mexico led the standings with 13 points, followed by Trinidad & Tobago (8), Costa Rica (8) and Panama (7), as the four teams advanced to the knockout stage.
Knockout Stage
Knockout Stage matchups consisted of two games, with a third game with Golden Goal if needed in case of a tie.
Mexico kicked off the Knockout Stage against Panama. The first game was close with a 1-1 draw, but a 1-0 lead in the second game was enough to give the local team the ticket for the next stage.
Trinidad & Tobago squared off with Costa Rica, with Los Ticos securing the win with 2-1 and 1-1 results. The victory gave them the chance to face Mexico for a spot in the Final.
Mexico didn’t have problems in game one to defeat Costa Rica 2-0. A tie in game two booked Mexico’s place in the Final.
In the matchup for the loser teams, Trinidad & Tobago defeated Panama, but later couldn’t overcome Costa Rica, which advanced to the Final with 3-0 and 2-1 victories.
Final
The first game of the Final presented a thriller, with Costa Rica having a 2-1 lead and Mexico ultimately coming from behind to win 3-2.
In the second game Mexico played with the goal advantage and kept Costa Rica away from their goal. In the last minutes of the match, the Tricolor scored to secure the victory and the spot in the FIFAe Finals

The first edition of the FIFAe Continental Championship North, Central America, and Caribbean by eConcacaf will be hosted in Mexico City, Mexico at Gamergy, one of the region’s leading gaming and esports events, which attracts more than 80,000 attendees throughout the weekend. Hosting the event within Gamergy will provide a dynamic setting for elite competition, fan engagement, and live esports entertainment.
