Concacaf Hosts 2025 Refereeing Talent and Mentor Program Consolidation Course in Miami
- Event marks the conclusion of a six-month development journey for refereeing talents and mentors across the Confederation
MIAMI – Concacaf successfully concluded the 2025 Refereeing Talent and Mentor Program with the Consolidation Course held at the Confederation’s headquarters in Miami, Florida.
The event marked the culmination of a six-month development initiative aimed at advancing the region’s top refereeing talent through personalized mentorship, performance tracking, and targeted technical development.
The Consolidation Course provided an opportunity for both referee talents and their assigned mentors to present and reflect on their progress throughout the program.
Each presentation highlighted the growth achieved in critical areas such as decision-making, game management, communication, and fitness, underscoring the effectiveness of individualized coaching and support over the past six months.
“The Refereeing Talent and Mentor Program has proven to be an essential pillar in developing the next generation of elite match officials across our region,” said Nicola Rizzoli, Concacaf Director of Refereeing .
“We are not only elevating refereeing standards within Concacaf’s ever-expanding competition ecosystem but also strengthening the domestic leagues of our Member Associations. This progress would not have been possible without the continued trust, commitment, and collaboration of our Member Associations, whose support remains fundamental to the growth and success of our referees.”
Throughout the day, mentors provided comprehensive evaluations of their referees’ development, offering insights into strengths, key achievements, and focus areas for future growth.
Referees also shared personal reflections on how the one-on-one mentorship model and structured feedback enhanced their performance and readiness for elite competition.
The 2025 edition of the program, which launched in April at the Dallas Cup, featured 16 referees and eight mentors from across Concacaf. Over the course of six months, participants engaged in practical training, match evaluations, and continuous monitoring, supported by customized fitness plans and performance reports coordinated by Concacaf’s Refereeing Department.
The 2025 Concacaf Refereeing Talent and Mentor Program reaffirms the Confederation’s ongoing commitment to developing consistent, high-performing match officials who embody the values of integrity, fairness, and excellence on the field of play.
