MIAMI – Charlyn Corral was honored as the 2026 Women’s Striker of the Year by France Football at the Ballon d’Or ceremony on Monday in London, United Kingdom.

At 35 years old, the Pachuca Femenil sticker became the first Mexican player to be honored at the Ballon d’Or award, in both men’s and women’s categories.

Corral, who is one of the most important players for Las Tuzas and the Mexican Women’s National team, recorded a one of a kind season: playing in 46 matches in the regular year, scoring 43 goals, while also delivering 11 assists.

She earned Liga MX Femenil Golden Boot honors after scoring 20 goals in 21 games, extending her mark in the Mexican league, becoming one of the most critical players in the country and the region. Corral was also key for her team at the 2026 W Champions Cup, scoring a critical brace that helped Pachuca win the third place.

This is not the first time Corral finished a season as the best striker in the league, winning the Golden Boot in Spain while playing in the Spanish League with Levante UD in the 2017/2018 season.

Corral wasn’t the only concacaf player that was celebrated in London, as two of the best players in the region, Melchie Dumornay (HAI) and Khadija Shaw (JAM) were also named among the best players around the world.

Khadija Shaw, captain of the Jamaican Women’s National Team and 2022 Concacaf Player of the year, was honored as the third best player in the world, holding the Golden Boot title of the English Women’s Super League.
