MIAMI, Florida – Curacao have advanced to the 2022 Concacaf Women’s Under-17
Championship after downing Barbados 2-0 in CWU17 Qualifying on Sunday at the IMG Academy in Bradenton.

After defeating Belize 3-1 in their Group B opener and then pocketing another three points on Sunday, Curacao have finished atop the group with six points.

Curacao enjoyed a dream start against Barbados, with Daylaina finding an early goal in the 9’ for a 1-0 lead.
Barbados looked to respond, but the Curacao defense held firm and then managed to polish things off, 2-0, in second half stoppage time in the 90+3’ with a goal from Raengelly Keller.

By virtue of their win over Barbados on Friday, Belize have finished second in Group B.

With Group A already decided by Saint Kitts and Nevis, Suriname and US Virgin Islands took to the field in a battle for second place and USVI raced out to a 1-0 lead in the 21’ through Azlyn Williams.

But the second half was a different story, as Suriname answered in style with goals from Samanie Loe-A-Foe in the 55’, Shequeeni Felter in the 86’ and Saveira Gallant in the 90+2’ to earn a 3-1 win and a second-place finish in the group.

CWU17Q will resume on Thursday, as the teams in Group C will take the field with Anguilla facing off against Guyana and Honduras meeting Turks and Caicos Islands.

The winner of Group C will qualify for the 2022 CWU17, along with Saint Kitts and Nevis and Curacao, while the best ranked second place finisher among Belize, Suriname and the second
place team from Group C will earn the fourth and final spot to the CWU17.
