Stellar attack secures first victory for Canada in Group B

The North Americans secure a third-place finish in Group B with four points.

KATOWICE, Poland – Canada continued its 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup campaign on Friday, securing a 6-nil victory against Tanzania in Group B at Arena Katowice in Katowice, Poland.

An own goal from Tanzania defender Ester Maseke gave Canada an early lead in the 7’.

The Canucks doubled the lead in the 49’ through a long-range rocket from Olivia Chisholm.

Annabelle Chukwu further extended Canada’s advantage with a second half brace, finding the back of the net in the 54’ and 66’.

Kaylee Hunter added the fifth goal with a headed finish in the 76’, before Liana Tarasco rounded out the result with a strike in the 85’.

With the victory in its third Group B fixture, Canada secures a third-place finish with four points and a 1W-1D-1L record.
