SOSNOWIEC, Poland – Costa Rica closed out its 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup campaign on Sunday, falling to a 3-nil final score against Portugal in its third and final Group E fixture at Arena Sosnowiec in Sosnowiec, Poland.

Portugal opened the scoring in the 7’ through a header from Anna Marques from the center of the box.

The Europeans doubled their advantage in the 34’, with Carolina Tristão dribbling past two defenders to break into the box before slotting the ball at the bottom left corner with a right-footed finish.

Marques rounded out the result for Portugal and sealed her brace in the 58’ with a finish from close range following a scramble inside the box.

This was the third and final match for Las Ticas in Group E at the 2026 U-20 Women’s World Cup, closing out their participation with a 0W-0D-3L record.
