Four teams represent Concacaf at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup

Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico and the United States to participate in the FIFA tournament in Poland.

MIAMI – The 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland is set to kick off on September 5th, with four Concacaf representatives among the 24 participants competing for the title: Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico and the United States.

Tournament Information

The 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will be Poland's first-ever major global women's tournament. It will be contested across four host cities: Bielsko-Biała, Katowice, Lodz, and Sosnowiec.

The United States previously won the tournament in 2002, 2008, and 2012, and will be seeking a record fourth title. Canada, Costa Rica, and Mexico will be looking to win the tournament for the first time.

Canada

Canada arrives at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after winning the 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship.

The Canucks defeated Mexico 3-2 to clinch a third Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship title in their history after winning in 2004 and 2008.

The Final saw Canada’s Adriana Blanchin achieve a major milestone by becoming the youngest player to score in a Final of the Women’s U-20 Championship at 17 years, 10 months and 29 days old. Additionally, goalkeeper Noelle Henning won the Golden Glove of the competition after recording 16 saves, the joint-most of any goalkeeper in the competition.

Canada was drawn into Group A alongside Brazil, England, and Tanzania for what will be its tenth U-20 Women’s World Cup appearance.

Costa Rica

Costa Rica will be making its fifth appearance at a FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, its third in a row after also qualifying for the 2022 and 2024 editions.

Las Ticas clinched its U-20 Women’s World Cup berth by featuring amongst the semifinalists of the 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship.

Sheika Scott left her mark in the 2025 edition of Concacaf’s Championship by scoring five goals in the 9-0 win Group Stage victory over Guyana, becoming just the second player to accomplish the feat.

The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will see Costa Rica take on Korea DPR, Colombia, and Portugal in Group E.

Mexico

Mexico booked its spot for its 11th U-20 Women’s World Cup participation after finishing runners-up at the 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship. El Tricolor opened the tournament with a perfect record to win Group B with nine points and three wins, prior to knocking out Costa Rica with a 4-0 result in the Semifinals.

Mexico's Montserrat Saldívar was amongst the top performers of the 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship and finished as the top scorer with eight goals.

Mexico will be competing with Poland, Argentina, and Benin in Group A at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

United States

The United States is set for its 12th FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup appearance, being one of just three nations to have competed in every edition of the tournament.

The Stars and Stripes secured its place in the competition as a Semifinalist of the 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship. The USYNT made its way to the Semifinals of the competition by winning Group A with nine points after winning its three Group Stage encounters.

USA has been paired in Group D alongside Japan, New Zealand, and Italy for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
