CF Monterrey and Club León defeat MLS opposition to claim the first two spots in the Leagues Cup 2026 Semifinals.

MIAMI – The Leagues Cup 2026 Quarterfinals kicked off on Tuesday with Liga MX’s CF Monterrey and Club León eliminating MLS opposition in Chicago Fire FC and Real Salt Lake, booking their places in the Semifinals.

CF Monterrey 2-1 Chicago Fire FC

CF Monterrey earned a 2-1 win over Chicago Fire FC at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois, USA.

Victor Guzmán opened the scoring for Rayados in the 45+4’ as the defender rose up to convert a header following Gerardo Arteaga’s free kick.

The MLS side notched an equalizer in the 59’ when Philip Zinckernagel made a run into the box and netted a first-time finish after a delivery from Andrew Gutman.

The Mexican side recorded the winner in the 83’ off a well-placed Orbelín Pineda volley from outside the box.

CF Monterrey will face the winner of Club América and Columbus Crew in the Semifinals.

Club León 3-0 Real Salt Lake

Club León earned a 3-0 shutout of Real Salt Lake at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado, USA.

Colombian striker Dibér Cambindo led the way with a brace for the Mexican side, netting from close range in the 21’ and then taking a touch past the goalkeeper and slotting his shot into an empty net in the 72’.

Sebastián Vegas scored Leon’s other goal with a header off a corner kick in the 66’.

With the result, Los Panzas Verdes remain undefeated through four matches in this year’s edition of the tournament.

Club León will face the winner of Deportivo Toluca FC and Austin FC in the Semifinals.
