Tigres Equals Record for Most Appearances in the Final in the Modern Era of the Champions Cup

Tigres UANL earned a 1-nil win over Nashville SC at home at Estadio Universitario in the second leg, with midfielder Juan Brunetta netting the winner to claim the series 2-nil on aggregate.

The victory saw Los Felinos advance to the Final of the Champions Cup for a fifth since 2008, tying Monterrey for the most Final appearances in the modern era of the tournament.

Second Leg Comeback for Toluca

The reigning Liga MX champions will now host the Champions Cup Final at home at Estadio Nemesio Díez in Toluca, Mexico after finishing atop the competition’s cumulative standings.

The occasion marked the second time Los Diablos Rojos came back from a first leg defeat away from home in the same edition of the Concacaf Champions Cup. Toluca had previously overcome a 3-2 first leg defeat at San Diego FC in the Round of 16, with a 4-nil win at home in the second leg.

Paulinho Bags Brace, Soars to Lead in Race for Top Scorer Award

Paulinho bagged a late brace in the 4-nil rout for Toluca against LAFC in the second leg of their series. The strikes took the Portugues forward’s tally to eight goals in six appearances as he now is the sole leader in the race for the Top Scorer Award.
