Correa Powers Tigres' Push for a Second Title

Correa’s impact has been felt throughout Tigres’ run.

MIAMI – The 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup Semifinals saw Tigres UANL advance to the Final with stellar performances from its Game-Changer Ángel Correa.

The Argentine scored the lone goal in the 1-nil win away at Nashville SC in the first leg, with a spectacular left-footed volley from outside the box. Correa also assisted Juan Brunetta’s goal in the 1-nil second leg victory to help push Tigres through.

Correa’s impact has been felt throughout Tigres’ run, starting with a goal in the club’s 4-1 second leg victory over Forge FC in Round One to win the series by the same result.

In the Round of 16, his presence as a threat on the field opened space for the likes of Rodrigo Aguirre, Ozziel Herrera, and Fernando Gorriarán score in the 5-1 second leg win to defeat FC Cincinnati 5-4 on aggregate. Correa had a similar effect in the Quarterfinals as Tigres topped Seattle Sounders FC on away goals, following a 3-3 aggregate.

The Tigres star has featured in 659 minutes for Tigres UANL throughout the tournament, the fourth most minutes through the Semifinals. Correa ranks second on the Tigres roster only to goalkeeper Nahuel Guzman, who leads all players with 720 minutes played.

With Correa on the field, Los Universitarios were indomitable at home. Tigres won every match at Estadio Universitario, marking the third time in club history they have gone unbeaten at home in a Champions Cup campaign. The four home victories also set a new club high for a single edition.

Now into their fifth Champions Cup Final since 2008, Tigres will look to Correa to continue leading the charge as the club pursues a second title away at Toluca.
