Play-in Second Leg Between Saprissa and Firpo

All even after a goalless draw in the First Leg.

MIAMI – The 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup continues on Wednesday with Deportivo Saprissa hosting CD Luis Ángel Firpo for the Second Leg of their Play-In Series at Estadio Deportivo Saprissa in San Juan de Tíbás, San José, Costa Rica.

The series is currently even after the teams played out a hard-fought goalless draw in the First Leg in El Salvador.

The winner of this series will secure a spot in the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup.

Saprissa aims to win the series to seal a spot in the 2027 Champions Cup via the Central American Cup Play-In round for a third consecutive year. Firpo looks to claim the series to become the first club from El Salvador to qualify for the Champions Cup through the Play-In round.

Saprissa have won nine out of 13 home games in the Central American Cup to date, notably winning both home fixtures in the Play-In Round the club has played in past editions of the tournaments.

Los Morados will be playing a home game against a Salvadorian opposition for the first time in competition history when hosting Firpo to play the Second Leg.

Pre-Match Stats: Saprissa vs L.A. Firpo

  • No team from El Salvador has ever qualified for the Concacaf Champions Cup via the Central American Cup, a feat that Alianza FC (SLV) and L.A. Firpo are looking to achieve in 2026.
  • Deportivo Saprissa, for their part, have progressed from the play-off round in both seasons they have competed in it (2023 and 2024).
  • Saprissa have won nine of their 13 home matches in the Concacaf Central American Cup (W9 D3 L1), but they will host a team from El Salvador for the first time in the competition. They previously won both of their home play-off matches: 4-0 against FC Motagua in 2023 and 3-1 against Comunicaciones in 2024.
  • L.A. Firpo's Víctor García made seven shots in the first leg against Saprissa, the joint-most by any player in a single Concacaf Central American Cup 2026 match (level with Daivis Murillo and Rodrigo de Olivera in the group stage).
  • The first leg between L.A. Firpo and Saprissa was the only match in the 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup to feature zero yellow or red cards. The Salvadoran side committed eight fouls, while the Costa Rican team committed 16 fouls.
  • Saprissa's Mariano Torres is one of only two players in the 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup to lead his team in both shots on target (six) and passes (348), alongside Real Estelí's Ricardo Blanco (two shots on target, 143 passes).
