Monterrey, Mexico – Round 2 action for Group B in the 2022 Concacaf W Championship will start on Friday evening, when Trinidad and Tobago and Costa Rica face each other at the Estadio Universitario in Monterrey.

La Sele came out victorious 3-0 in their debut game against Panama, maintaining the consistency they showed in the W Qualifiers. Raquel Rodriguez keeps delivering game-changing performances, as she got the first goal for her team and sixth in her CWC career. Captain Katherine Alvarado and Priscila Chinchilla were also part of this dream debut, scoring the other two goals of the evening.

For their next challenge, Costa Rica will look to keep another clean sheet, while adding to their goal count for this CWC edition and show the depth of the roster and quality of the players that arrived in Monterrey earlier this week.

Trinidad and Tobago faced Olympic Champions Canada in a match that was full of highs and lows for the National Team with the most CWC appearances. GK Kimika Forbes was the star of the match, blocking a slew of goal attempts from Canada in the first half. However, the defensive line could not hold that long and ended up conceding six goals.

In their second match, Trinidad and Tobago will look to show their strengths as a team against Costa Rica. Forbes, with the help of Maria-Frances Serrant, Rhea Belgrave and the entire team, will look to take the pitch and fight for their first win in this CWC.

Costa Rica and Trinidad and Tobago have faced each other before in CWC matches, the last time back in USA 2014, in which Costa Rica won in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw. The Ticas lead the all-time series with a 1W-2D-0L record.

The Estadio Universitario will be the perfect setting to see how these two teams approach their second match in a must-win for both.
