MONTERREY, Mexico – The Final of the 2022 Concacaf W Championship title will take place this Monday evening at the Estadio BBVA in Monterrey, in which the reigning World Champions, the United States, will face the current Olympic champions, Canada.

The day has finally arrived and the two protagonists are ready to take the field in Monterrey one last time. The U.S. will face Canada for the CWC title and a direct pass to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and the 2024 W Gold Cup.

The U.S. is a legendary team when it comes to the CWC, having won the last two editions back in 2014 and 2018, and being the National Team with the most titles to their name in the tournament’s history (8).

Their participation in Monterrey has been as expected in scoring 13 goals in four matches, while registering clean sheets in all of them. Top scorers such as Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe are stars that are out there still making history, with Morgan being one of the top scorers in this CWC (2 goals). They also have new faces making a name of their own, like Sophia Smith (2 goals), Kristie Mewis (2 goals), Mallory Pugh and Captain Becky Sauerbrunn.

Canada also means history when talking Concacaf, playing their seventh CWC final, earning the runner-up position five times, while being champions twice, as hosts in 1998 and then at Mexico 2010.

They have put on a show in Monterrey, having clean sheets in all four matches they’ve played, while scoring 12 goals. Legendary names will be out on the field again, like Captain Christine Sinclair, plus Julia Grosso and Jessie Fleming, who are Canada’s top scorers of the tournament with three goals each, and playmaker Janine Beckie, who has three assists.

These teams have a long history in the CWC and will face each other in the Final for the fifth time, while all-time the U.S. lead the CWC series with a 7W-0D-0L record.

With CWC glory up for grabs, these teams will hold nothing back, showing everything they have to try be the ones who lift the trophy on their last night in Monterrey.
