MONTERREY, Mexico – The second semifinal match of the 2022 Concacaf W Championship in Monterrey ended with Canada marching past Jamaica 3-0 on Thursday evening at the Estadio Universitario, earning the last ticket to the Final.

Canada will face the United States in Monday’s Final in a rematch of the 2018 Final, won 2-0 by the U.S. The winner of Monday’s contest will not only claim top CWC honors, but also qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2024 W Gold Cup.

Both teams took the field on Thursday night with the last ticket to next week’s Final next in mind.

After some early looks for each side, it didn’t take long for Canada to break the Jamaican defense, when in the 18’, Jessie Fleming with a header scored the first goal for Canada.

Ashley Lawrence crossed the ball into the area, where Jamaica DF Allyson Swaby of Jamaica tried to clear the ball, but instead it allowed Fleming to get her third goal in this 2022 CWC and her fourth career CWC goal.

Canada didn’t slow down and in the 33’, Nichelle Prince looked set to score the second one of the evenings, but it hit the post and rolled to Jamaica GK Rebecca Spencer.

Canada looked to add to their lead in the 57’ with a header, but Jamaica DF Deneisha Blackwood did well to stop the shot right in front of goal.

Adriana Leon and Allysha Chapman subbed on in the 53’ and they immediately made an impact. In the 64’, with an assist from Leon off a cross, Chapman scored the second goal of the night with a powerful header, which also was her second international goal.

In the 76’, Leon then scored the third and final goal for Canada off a flicked-on header from Jordyn Huitema, who was also subbed on in the 53’, making this the seventh CWC goal for Leon to complete the 3-0 scoreline.
