MIAMI, Florida – The 2022 Concacaf W Championship begins on July 4 in Monterrey, Mexico with eight teams hoping to be one of three sides that qualify for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia/New Zealand and the winner also advancing to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Haiti has faced many challenges to get this far in the Championship and are ready to keep improving and showing off their game.
The Caribbean side will be making their sixth appearance in the CWC, having been part of the tournament since 1991, when they hosted the competition, followed by participations at Canada 1998, Canada/United States 2002, Mexico 2010 and USA 2014.
The best performance from Haiti in tournament history was as the host nation in 1991, when they finished in fourth place. When it comes to CWC milestones for Haiti’s women’s football, the names of Lindsay Zullo and Adeline Saintilmond are to be highlighted, as they hold the Haiti record as top CWC goal scorers since 2010 with one goal each.
In the CWC Qualification Stage, Haiti were the winners of Group E, with a 4W-0D-0L record. Helping their team get that top spot was Roselord Borgella, who was the top scorer with 11 goals. Batcheba Louis, with eight goals to her name, was also a big part of this qualifying achievement. To complete the list of game changers were Roseline Eloissant and Melchie Dumornay, with four goals each, and Kethna Louis and Mikerline Saintfelix, with three goals each.
Haiti has an overall record of 5W-0D-12L, scoring 15 goals and conceding 59, in 17 CWC matches played.
As a team that has improved in recent years, Haiti is now proving to the world the quality of their game and will fight to get to their first FIFA Women’s World Cup.
