Panama, Jamaica punch CWU20 Championship tickets

MIAMI, Florida – Panama and Jamaica have punched their tickets to the 2023 Concacaf
Women’s Under-20 Championship after earning wins on Tuesday in CWU20 Qualifying.


Panama 11 Sint Maarten 0


Panama secured their berth to the Championship by virtue of their 11-0 win over Sint Maarten at
the Rignaal Jean Francisca Stadium in Willemstad, Curacao, to clinch first place in Group B.


Ana Quintero (9’, 22’, 67’, 84’) scored four goals, Delineth Rivera (5’, 50’) and Sherline King
(75’, 82’) each bad braces and Reggina Espino (19’), Aaliyah Gil (37’) and Deysire Salazar (55’)
all added scores in the commanding win for the Canaleras.

 


Curacao 7 Bahamas 0


Curacao also sent their fans home happy in their Group B finale with a 7-0 win over Bahamas.


Three players struck for braces, with Jealeaugh Rosa (14’, 36’), Raengelly Keller (17’, 34’),
and Shermilyene Leito (41’, 59’) achieving that feat, while Nabiellene Nisia (79’) tacked on a
goal of her own.

 


Jamaica 2 Honduras


Group E at the Estadio Nacional in Managua, Nicaragua, came down to an intense duel
between Jamaica and Honduras and in the end, it was Jamaica emerging with the 2-0 win to
earn a first-place finish in the group and a place in the CWU20 Championship.


The Reggae Girlz raced out to an early lead with Natoya Atkinson getting on the scoresheet in
the 2’ by splitting a pair of Honduran defenders before finishing into net. Atkinson then
bookended her performance with a goal in the 90+1’ to complete the 2-0 scoreline.

 


Bermuda 3 Anguilla 1


The first game of the day in Managua was an entertaining one, as Bermuda rallied from a 1-0
deficit half deficit to top Anguilla, 3-1.


Anguilla took a 1-0 lead through Cycoiah Watley in the 17’, but Bermuda would respond in
string fashion in the final half hour with scores from Robin-Valana Pearman (66’), Jahni
Simmons (80’) and Azari Easton (90+1’).

 


El Salvador 10 Saint Vincent and the Grenadines 0


Group A at the Estadio Panamericano in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic, saw El Salvador
march to a 10-0 victory against Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, giving El Salvador three wins
in three games.


Dariella Lopez (64’, 67’, 81’) and Elizabeth Johannes (36’, 45, 80’) were the big stars for El
Salvador with a hat tricks, while Victoria Sanchez (18’, 75’) added a brace and Carolina
Benitez (30’) and Amy Angel (85’) chipped in with goals.

 


Cuba 2 Martinique 0

In the group’s other contest, Cuba emerged as 2-0 winners versus Martinique, with Lianet
Franco breaking the deadlock in the 56’ and Dalia Ledesma adding an insurance goal in the
72’.


The teams in Group A will return to action on Thursday in Santo Domingo, with Saint Vincent
and the Grenadines taking on Martinique, while Canada will seek their third win in a date with
Cuba.

 


There will also be action in Group B in Willemstad, with Sint Maarten and Bahamas each
pursuing their first win of the tournament.
