Jamaica win to book Men’s Under-20 Championship spot

MIAMI, Florida – Jamaica became the third team from Concacaf Men’s Under-20 Championship Qualifying to reach this summer’s 2024 Concacaf Men’s Under-20 Championship thanks to their late win over Bermuda on Wednesday.

Group F

The teams in Group F played their finales on Wednesday at the SKNFA Technical Center in Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Jamaica booked their Men’s Under-20 Championship place thanks to a late 3-2 win versus Bermuda.

Goals from Robino Gordon (2’), Fabian Reynolds (11’) and Ashton Gordon (83’) for Jamaica outweighed goals by Xahvi Deroza (50’) and Hayden Dill (61’) for Bermuda.

The other match in Group F was a goal-fest between Grenada and Martinique, ending in a 4-4 draw. Caleb Redhead (9’, 84’), Vijay Valcin (36’) and David Juba (70’) scored for Grenada, while Martinique got a hat trick from Lenny Lamorandiere (14’, 35’, 80’) and a goal from Kerane Leria (4’).

Group A

Group A resumes on Thursday at the Estadio Nacional in Managua, Nicaragua, with Anguilla battling with the British Virgin Islands in the first ever meeting between the two teams. BVI are searching for their second straight win, while Anguilla are pursuing their first result.

The nightcap will see Cuba face Belize with the Cubans looking to keep pace at the top of the group with host nation Nicaragua, who lead by three points. Cuba defeated Belize 6-1 in their only previous meeting at USA 2018.

Group B

Guyana and Turks and Caicos Islands kick off the action early in Group B at the ABFA Technical Centre in Piggots, Antigua and Barbuda, in a first ever meeting. Each side is looking for their first win.

The second match of the group will be El Salvador clashing with Suriname. They have met just once, in 1976 in what was a 6-1 win for Suriname. Both teams are in the mix to finish atop the group, with Suriname on six points and El Salvador on four through two matches each.

Group C

Group C will be back at the Estadio Doroteo Guamuch Flores in Guatemala City, Guatemala, beginning with Barbados facing Saint Martin. Both teams are on the hunt for their first result. This will be their first meeting.

The nightcap is a big one, as hosts Guatemala take on Aruba. Each side has played two games, with Guatemala on six points and Aruba on four points, yet both trail first place Curacao, who have seven points. Guatemala have won both match against Aruba, including a 2-1 final at Honduras 2022.
