Haiti vs. Costa Rica
The tournament opens with Haiti and Costa Rica on FMF Campo 1 in what will be their second meeting in a Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship. Las Ticas won the first match-up 2-0 back in 2010.
Haiti are always a tough foe at the Women’s U17 level, including a Fourth-Place finish in 2018 when Melchie Dumornay took home the Best Player award and finished as the joint-top scorer. In what will be their sixth CWU17, Haiti are seeking their first ever title.
Haiti reached the CWU17 by virtue of their first-place finish in Group B of qualifying in which Lourdjina Etienne (5 goals), Derline Saindate (4) and Pierreline Nazon (4) led the way in scoring.
Costa Rica’s best finish at the Concacaf Women’s U17 Championship came in 2008 when they were runners-up. That was also their first ever U17 Women’s World Cup qualification. Las Ticas also participated in the 2014 edition as the host nation.
Costa Rica are appearing in their sixth CWU17 after claiming the top spot in Group C of qualifying. Brigitte Monge and Brittany Castrillo stood out by scoring two goals each.

Mexico vs. El Salvador
The second match of the day on FMF Campo 1 pits Mexico against El Salvador in the second all-time CWU17 meeting between the two countries. Mexico were 7-0 winners in their first contest in 2013.
Mexico are one of three teams to have won a Concacaf Women’s U17 Championship, achieving that feat in 2013. El Tricolor, who are participating in their eighth CWU17, were also runners-up in the previous edition in 2022, when they fell 2-1 to the United States in the Final.
El Salvador continue to make strides in the women’s game at the youth national team level and will be looking to improve upon their quarterfinal finish from 2022.
Playing in their fourth CWU17, El Salvador finished first in Group A of qualifying and got a huge contribution from Breanna Medina, who scored seven goals.
