UNIFUT, Moravia in UNCAF women’s final

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica – UNIFUT and Moravia will meet Sunday in the UNCAF Women’s Inter-Club Championship final after posting final-four wins a day earlier at the Estadio Ernesto Rohrmoser. The sides had met in the Group B play with UNIFUT scoring the last two goals in a 4-2 victory. Vivian Herrera struck for her second goal of the competition to give the Guatemalan champion a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute, while Cinthya Lopez converted a penalty kick in the second minute of first-half stoppage time for insurance. Universidad did not use any of its substitutes. SEMIFINAL #2 Saprissa (Costa Rica) 2, Moravia (Costa Rica) 3 TSG Player of the Match: Karla Villalobos (Moravia) In an all-Costa Rican duel, Moravia rallied from a two-goal deficit to earn a 3-2 win over Saprissa. Katherine Alvarado (7’ pen) and Cristin Granados (9’) scored their second and third goals of the competition, respectively, to put the Moradas ahead. Moravia made it 2-1 in the 12th minute thanks to the first of Karla Villalobos’ two goals. The rivals were on level terms in the 26th minute through Yesmi Rodriguez. In the 55th minute, each team was reduced to 10 players, when Alvarado and Moravia’s Maria Fernanda Barrantes were both ejected.
