Toluca out for comeback in Second Leg against LAFC
The MLS side is coming off a 2-1 win at home in the First Leg.
MIAMI – The 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup continues with Deportivo Toluca FC hosting Los Angeles FC in the Second Leg of their Semifinals series on Wednesday at Estadio Nemesio Díez in Toluca, Mexico.
LAFC holds the advantage after a 2-1 win at home in the First Leg, with Timothy Tillman opening the scoring and Nikosi Tafari netting a dramatic late winner. Jesús Angulo scored Toluca’s goal in the match.
Son Heung-Min was key in the victory for the U.S. side, with the South Korean star picking up the assist on both goals. Son reached seven assists in seven appearances and is now the assist leader of the 2026 edition.
With its first leg win, LAFC extended its current run in the competition to seven unbeaten (5W, 2D) and is the only remaining undefeated team in the 2026 Champions Cup. The California side will aim to reach the final for a third time, after finishing runners-up in 2020 and 2023.
The current streak marks the best unbeaten run for the California side in tournament history.
Toluca seeks to turn the series around in front of its home crowd to advance to a sixth final in tournament history. The current Liga MX champions continue the hunt of its third Champions Cup crown.
Los Diablos Rojos will look to their star players for the result, among them forward Paulinho, who is currently tied in the lead for the Top Scorer Award with six goals in five appearances.
The winner of the series on aggregate will advance to the Final to play either Tigres UANL or Nashville SC.
