Reyes, Urbano shine with hat-tricks as Mexico defeat Jamaica
ALAJUELA, Costa Rica – The Final Round of the 2026 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Qualifiers kicked off with Mexico earning a 9-nil win against Jamaica in Group C on Tuesday at the Costa Rican Football Federation Field #2 in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
Mexico got off the mark early in the 3’, with a left-footed finish from Citlalli Reyes inside the box on an assist from Emily Delgado.
Mía Urbano added two more for El Tricolor with strikes the 7’ and 17’. Both goals were assisted by Reyes.
The roles were reversed in the 40’ for Mexico’s fourth goal. Urbano played a ball into Reyes, before striking the ball into the bottom-left corner from outside the box.
Reyes secured her third of the match in the 50’ with an effort from inside the box to capitalize on a cross from Fernanda Monroy.
Urbano sealed a hat-trick performance in the 64’ with a banger from outside the box.
Ixchel Alehna Uscanga further extended Mexico’s lead by burying a long-range effort into the top-right-corner in the 70’.
A goal from Delgado from the center of the box off a set piece opportunity in the 87’, and a long-range effort from Bianka Arredondo after a corner kick in the 89’, rounded out the result for Mexico.
Both teams will play their next encounter on Thursday, March 19. Mexico will face Panama, while Jamaica will meet Costa Rica.

Mexico recorded its first-ever 9-0 victory, marking its fourth win in five matches against Jamaica and its fourth clean sheet in the series, improving its record to (W-4 D-1).
Mexico’s Citlali Yatzil Reyes reached eight goals and scored her first career hat-trick, moving into the Top 3 among her country’s all-time leading scorers alongside Layla Sirdah Ismail and Maribel Flores Hernández .
Mía Jani Urbano registered her first hat-trick, the 10th by a Mexican player in the history of the Final Round, while teammates Ixchel Alehna Uscanga, Emily Elizabeth Delgado , and Bianka Alexa Arredondo etched their names into the history books.
Mexico reached 30 wins in Final Round history: 2022 (W-6), 2024 (W-4), 2010 (W-4), 2018 (W-3), 2025 (W-3), 2012 (W-3), 2016 (W-3), 2008 (W-2), 2026 (W-1), 2013 (W-1). It is the third national team with the most wins, only behind Canada (32) and the United States (44).
For Jamaica, it marks their heaviest defeat, surpassing the 1-8 loss against the United States on Matchday 1 of Group B on March 4, 2016. Civana Grace Kuhlmann (15’, 49’), Ashley Nicole Sánchez (34’, 56’), and Francesca Claire Tagliaferri (72’, 75’, 81’, 87’) scored for the United States, while Shayla Brianna Smart (32’) scored for Jamaica.
