Panama claims key victory against Aruba in W Qualifiers

Panama earns key win vs Aruba

PENONOMÉ, Panama – The 2025/26 Concacaf W Qualifiers continued with Panama earning a 3-1 win over Aruba in Group E on Thursday at Estadio Universitario in Penonomé, Panama.

Aruba’s Vanessa Susanna opened the scoring in the 5’, placing the visitors in the lead with a powerful hit from the right end of the box.

Panama leveled the scoring in the 16’, with Riley Tanner striking from the center of the box to capitalize on a delivery from Sherline King.

Arlén Hernández turned the scoring around for the hosts in the 29’ with a header at the far post off a corner. King provided the delivery on the play as she picked up her second assist of the match.

Karla Riley converted a penalty in the 73’ to round out the victory for Panama.

Aruba will retake the pitch on April 13 against Curaçao. Panama will look for another win in the W Qualifiers when it hosts Cuba on April 17.

  • The Panama women’s national team has recorded four consecutive victories in the qualifiers (one in the 2025 Final Tournament and three in the 2025-2026 Preliminary Round). For the first time in the history of the competition, Panama has won two consecutive matches scoring three goals in each game: ** 3-0 vs. St. Kitts and Nevis (Mar 4, 2026)** and 3-1 vs. Aruba (Apr 9, 2026).

  • Panama secured its 6th consecutive victory against Caribbean opponents in the qualifiers. Additionally, the team holds a streak of eight consecutive matches without defeat against Caribbean sides (D-1 W-7), the best unbeaten run for Panama against teams from the Caribbean.
  • It was the 5th victory in as many matches for Panama playing on home soil in the history of the qualifiers. The Aruba women’s national team became the first side to score a goal against Las Canaleras in Panama. Previous results:
